Join us for an event

Join us virtually on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 4-5pm for a professional learning opportunity designed to engage educators in deep content learning with the Museum&rsquo;s collections, with particular emphasis on the Cyrus Tang Hall of China.&nbsp;
This program will help educators incorporate drama in the classroom &ndash; whether in-person or in a virtual setting &ndash; in order to engage students in the study of culture and religious traditions.
Participants will:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Understand: How to use theater and storytelling to teach young audiences about culture and religious traditions.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Do: Participate in drama and improvisation activities to explore the major themes and Buddhist values present in the stories of Guanyin and the Journey to the West.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Feel: Prepared to integrate drama and storytelling to teach cultural content.</li>
</ul>
Registration is open to formal and informal educators of all levels. Those who register will receive a Zoom link to join.&nbsp;

Meet renowned wildlife and crocodilian expert Frank "Alligator Robb"

Frank Robb&mdash;widely known as &ldquo;Alligator Robb&rdquo;&mdash;is a renowned wildlife and crocodilian expert from Florida&rsquo;s Space Coast. He serves as President of Environmental Education Awareness Research Support and Services (<a href="https://eearss.org/">EEARSS.ORG</a>), a nonprofit that champions environmental education, biodiversity studies, and cutting-edge cancer research focused on environmental toxicology. He is best known in Chicago for safely capturing &ldquo;Chance the Snapper,&rdquo; the alligator that made national headlines after appearing in a Humboldt Park lagoon.
Come meet Frank and learn how, in partnership with the Wise Laboratory of Environmental and Genetic Toxicology at the University of Louisville, he is conducting field research along Florida&rsquo;s Space Coast, capturing and testing alligators to assess how environmental exposures are impacting both animal and human health.

Come meet Field Museum Collections staff Chris Philipp and Julia Kennedy as they discuss rarely-displayed masks from the A.B. Lewis collection, new contemporary items, and various media from the Field's Papua New Guinea collection. At nearly 35,000 items, the Field Museum cares for the largest collection of material from the country of Papua New Guinea currently in the United States.

Explore how to honor diverse beliefs and traditions in your classroom.

Join us at the Field Museum on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10am-2pm for a professional learning opportunity designed to engage educators in deep content learning with the Museum&rsquo;s collections, with particular emphasis on Ruatepupuke II, the Māori Meeting House.
This program will help educators explore how to approach teaching about diverse beliefs and traditions with care. As a case study, we will look at how to incorporate artifact inquiry when an artifact, like the Māori Meeting House, is not an object but an ancestor.
Participants will

<li>Understand: How to honor diverse beliefs by incorporating non-Western stories and traditions into instruction.</li>
<li>Do: Role-play responding to student and parent questions about cultures and religious traditions that might be different from their own.</li>
