Join us at the Field Museum on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10am-2pm for a professional learning opportunity designed to engage educators in deep content learning with the Museum&rsquo;s collections, with particular emphasis on the Cyrus Tang Hall of China. This program will support educators teaching about migration patterns in both historical and contemporary contexts.
With these contemporary connections, the session also will help educators bring Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) narratives into their classrooms. This workshop will include content and practical strategies to meet the requirements of the TEAACH Act.
Together, we will explore the questions:

<li>In what ways do images and objects act as "texts" that tell stories about how people live, think, and interact with their environment and each other?</li>
<li>What does it mean to be culturally responsive in our inquiry, and how do the questions we ask shape the stories we tell about the past and present?</li>
<li>Why do people move from one place to another, and how have those reasons changed or stayed the same over time?</li>
<li>What can the study of ancient and modern travel teach us about connection, exchange, and adaptation?</li>
<li>In what ways are historical patterns of Chinese migration reflected in contemporary immigration experiences?</li>

Check out unique frog specimens from the collections and discover the importance of frogs to the ecosystems of the world.

Meet Dr. Almira Astudillo Gilles, Research Associate, and Jamie Kelly, McCarter Collections Manager of Anthropology at the Field Museum, as they showcase curated objects from the museum&rsquo;s Philippine collection and present highlights of Dr Gilles&rsquo; recent ethnoastronomy research in the Philippines.
Learn about alternative perspectives to Western astronomy and how other cultures still use celestial objects for navigation, agriculture, and home practices today. View rarely displayed items from the Philippine collection and see the results of artisanal and artistic skills utilizing natural materials from the surrounding environment.

Bats and batfishes may share a name, but they couldn&rsquo;t be more different in where and how they live! Bats are flying mammals that soar through the night skies, while batfishes are quirky-looking ocean dwellers with flat bodies and &ldquo;arm-like&rdquo; fins that help them walk along the seafloor. One thrives in the air, the other under the waves, yet both show how wonderfully strange and adaptable animals can be in their own habitats.&nbsp;
Come meet Lauren Johnson, Assistant Collections Manager of Mammals; Susan Mochel, Assistant Collections Manager of Fishes; Sophie Picq, Environmental DNA Research Scientist; and Linnea Lungstrom, PhD Candidate, Evolutionary Biology, and learn about these hauntingly mysterious animals.

To celebrate, Huehuecoyotl performers will visit the PlayLab before their museumwide presentation to meet with guests, discuss their regalia, chat about celebration days, and even teach a few dance steps.</li>
<li>11:00am&ndash;11:30am Starr Chief Eagle will provide an interactive and educational dive into Lakota Culture that will explore the language, art, and knowledge of the Lakota people. &nbsp;During her presentation, she will perform the rare tradition of Hoop Dancing in which she uses 22 hoops to create several designs, shapes, and creatures to tell a story.</li>

2026 Ticket Packages

<h3>Dozin' with the Dinos Age Policy</h3>

Please carefully review our updated policy regarding age requirements for Dozin' with the Dinos attendees.

<ul>
<li>Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into a Dozin' with the Dinos event. Families and groups with children under the age of 6 may be asked to leave the event without a refund.</li>
<li>Adults may not attend Dozin' with the Dinos without a child between the ages of 6-12. If you attend the event and do not have children in your party, you will be asked to leave the event without a refund.</li>
<li>If you've purchased tickets incorrectly by mistake, you have until 2 weeks prior to the event to request a refund. After the two week period no refunds will be given, and you will not be admitted to the event.</li>
</ul>

In the 1960s, the world knew little about wild African elephants &mdash; until Scottish biologist and Save the Elephants founder, Iain Douglas-Hamilton, arrived in Tanzania. His groundbreaking research in Manyara was the first in-depth study of wild African elephant behavior. The Soiree at the Gala (formerly EVOLVE) is a vibrant evening of music, dancing, and science, tailored for Chicago's young professionals and hosted by the Field Museum's Young Professionals Board. Proceeds from the event support the Museum&rsquo;s community programs, exhibitions, groundbreaking scientific research, and more!

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Soiree guests enjoyed signature cocktails and curated hors d'oeuvres during a special reception with exclusive after-hours access to the Museum&rsquo;s exhibitions. Following the reception, they joined the Board of Trustees and Women's Board of the Field Museum in Stanley Field Hall for dessert, a top-shelf open bar, and dancing. Throughout the evening, guests were invited to explore more exhibitions and bid on exclusive items and experiences in the silent auction. &nbsp;

Meet Madeline Meier and Hortense de La Codre, Postdoctoral Fellows in the Center for Scientific Studies in the Arts at Northwestern University, and Jamie Kelly, Head of Anthropology Collections at the Field Museum and take a multidisciplinary look at the science and cultural heritage of kingfisher feathers.
Hear about the interdisciplinary nature of the field of cultural heritage research as you examine kingfisher feathers and learn the science behind their structural color, and see unique pieces from the China collections showcasing the craft of tian-tsui, or feather inlay technique, which utilizes kingfisher feathers to create these objects.

Examine kingfisher feathers and tian-tsui featherworks and gain insights into the interdisciplinary nature of the field of cultural heritage research.

The Native Knowledge 360&deg; Teach-In offers educators a dynamic 4.5-hour experience featuring a keynote, strategies for teaching contemporary Native perspectives, and a guided exploration of Native Truths: Our Voices, Our Stories.
This year&rsquo;s Teach-In features a virtual keynote from Dr. Scott Manning Stevens (Akwesasne Mohawk), a nationally recognized scholar in Native American cultures, museum studies, and Native literatures. He is the author of Why You Can't Teach United States History without American Indians and currently serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Global Indigenous Cultures and Environmental Justice at Syracuse University.
