I'm a teacher, what should I expect in the exhibit?

What happens if I need to reschedule my group's visit?

I missed my group’s entry time. What should we do? 

In order to ensure that groups have a great visit, pre-K through 5th-grade students must be accompanied by a minimum of one adult for every five students and a maximum of one adult for every child. Students in 6th through 12th grade must be accompanied by a minimum of one adult for every ten students and a maximum of one adult for every child.

How many chaperones can my Illinois School Group bring?

After you submit your registration form, you will receive an email with an invoice PDF. You can submit that payment amount by mailing a check before the trip or calling our office at (312) 665-7500 with a credit card.

Payment must be received 2 weeks prior to your trip date. If payment is not received 2 weeks prior to the field trip date, tickets will be released to the general public.

How do I submit payment?

Illinois groups registered at least 2 weeks in advance are allotted a discounted price of $7 per person to enter the &nbsp;Pok&eacute;mon Fossil Museum exhibition. Every person entering the exhibit will need a ticket.

Your group will still be able to enter all General Admission exhibits on your trip.Limited tickets are reserved for Illinois field trip groups each day.

How much are tickets for the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition for Illinois field trip groups?

Starting March 3, Illinois field trip groups may register using our <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/page/register-your-field-trip-group">field trip registration form</a>. &nbsp;All field trips should be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Limited tickets are reserved for Illinois field trip groups each day.&nbsp;

How can my group register for a field trip to see the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition?

When will tickets be available for Illinois school groups?

Unfortunately, there are no scholarships available for this special exhibition. All Illinois students, chaperones, and teachers on the field trip who are visiting the exhibit must pay $7 to enter. You can still book your <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/landing/field-trips">General Admission field trip</a> for free, and visit the Evolving Planet exhibition to learn about fossils.

Create a small tassel using traditional weaving techniques from the Southeast Coastline of Alaska, with Tlingit Artists, Lily Hope and Sydney Akagi. Clip your finished tassel to your favorite bag or backpack.
This workshop celebrates the opening of Woolly Dogs in Native Truths: Our Stories, Our Voices. Co-curated with Eliot White-Hill. The pod expresses Mr. White-Hill&rsquo;s personal story of the beloved woolly dogs and their meaning to the Coast Salish peoples.
This workshop will take place on the Marae in front of the Maori House on the upper level.
Please note that this type of weaving or community is not represented in Woolly Dogs, but it is a way to show&nbsp;appreciation and honor to the Coast Salish peoples and their relationship with the woolly dogs.

Come join the Field Museum's Paul Mayer and Jack Wittry as we celebrate the Tully monster! First described 60 years ago by Field Museum paleontologist Eugene Richardson, Tullimonstrum gregarium lived right here in Illinois 310 million years ago when the area was located on the equator and flooded by a shallow tropical sea. The Tully monster is found nowhere else in the world and is the official state fossil of Illinois.

The Women&rsquo;s Board of the Field Museum, founded in 1966, raises funds for Women in Science programs at its annual luncheon celebrating female STEM leadership.

<h2>Keynote</h2>

On May 21, 2025, the Women's Board of the Field Museum will welcome Sera Young, PhD as its annual Women in Science Luncheon speaker.

Dr. Young is a Professor of Anthropology and Global Health at Northwestern University, and she has dedicated her career to understanding how women work to preserve their health and that of their families. Her research focuses on maternal and child undernutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, particularly in low-resource settings.

Notably, Dr. Young led a large team in the development of the first globally equivalent way of measuring water access &ndash; the WISE (Water InSecurity Experiences) Scales. These scales have been used by 100+ organizations in 50+ countries to tackle some of the world&rsquo;s most pressing health challenges.

She has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed publications, and her work has been featured in The New York Times, BBC, and National Geographic. Recent accolades include the Margaret Mead Award for her book Craving Earth, an Andrew Carnegie Fellowship, and the Norman Kretchmer Memorial Award in Nutrition and Development.

Since the inception of the Women in Science initiative in 2000, the annual luncheon has supported more than 500 young women through internships, fellowships, post-doc positions, salary support for female scientific staff, and a robust series of lectures and networking events. In addition, the luncheon makes possible annual science outreach programming for young women from three Chicago Public Schools &ndash; Orr Academy, Solorio Academy, and ITW David Speer Academy &ndash; whom we welcome to the Field Museum to join the luncheon, meet the keynote speaker, and network with female STEM leaders.

The Field Museum Women’s Board is committed to supporting students and scientists at all stages of their careers through the annual Women in Science Luncheon event.

See the Field Museum in a whole new light! Families and groups with kids ages 6 to 12 can spend the night at the museum during Dozin' with the Dinos.
Stay up late with scientists as the Field Museum comes to life in games, challenges, and stories throughout the night. Will you dissect owl pellets and identify animal tracks to become the next great wildlife detective? Or, will you embark on a paleontologist's expedition to learn how fossils form? Take on these adventures and more with the Dozin&rsquo; Institute for Nocturnal Observations (DINO) on our late-night mission of discovery. Then, grab your flashlight and explore the halls as the lights go out. This is a night at the museum you won't forget!
Tickets to Dozin&rsquo; with the Dinos scheduled for September 18th and November 6th will include admission to the Pok&eacute;mon Fossil Museum. Timed tickets will be assigned to all Dozin&rsquo; ticketholders prior to the event. All sales are final.

Ultimate SUE Sleepover 

Join us for an evening celebrating the grand opening of the Pok&eacute;mon Fossil Museum at the Field Museum! Receive exclusive, after-hours access to the exhibit and embark on your own fossil adventure through the exhibit halls of the Field Museum. You&rsquo;ll want to catch all this event has to offer, including demonstrations by our team of scientists, hands-on activities, crafts, and of course, plenty of fossils!
Guests must register in advance and will receive a timed-entry ticket for the Pok&eacute;mon Fossil Museum at check-in. Access to all other museum exhibitions, including the Crown Family PlayLab and After the Age of Dinosaurs, are included with admission. All sales are final.

Start your day with this exclusive event, designed for grown-up fans of science, nostalgia, and Pok&eacute;mon. Your adventure begins with private access to the Pok&eacute;mon Fossil Museum, where you will explore Fossil Pok&eacute;mon like Tyrantrum and Archeops alongside real prehistoric specimens, including the iconic SUE the T.rex.
Join our team of experts for a guided tour through the museum&rsquo;s exhibit halls featuring behind-the-scenes stories, close-up looks at prominent specimens, and discover how our scientists learn from studying fossils in our collection. The morning concludes with a complimentary brunch.
Guests must register in advance, and tickets are extremely limited. All sales are final.
