Media for Staff Profile

Each year, Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to recognize and honor the cultures, traditions, and ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities. It is also a moment to reflect on the histories that shape our world today and to celebrate the resilience of Indigenous peoples across the Americas and beyond.
We invite you to join us in honoring Indigenous traditions, cultures, and lives—and in recognizing the deep and ongoing connections between Indigenous peoples and the lands we share.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Join us for Indigenous Peoples’ Day as our guest performers share their indigenous pride through stories, song, and dance.

Special Performances, 11:00 am–1:00 pm

Hoapili Ukulele 11am–11:30am

Hoapili means "close friend," "intimate friend," or "favorite friend" in the Hawaiian language. Hoapili is a band specializing in traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music. The 'Mana', or strength, of Hoapili lies within their harmonious vocals blending with the musical arrangements shared throughout the group.

Kalpulli Xinachtli Xochikalli 11:45am–12:15pm

A Chicago-based Kalpulli practicing the Nahua tradition of Mexico. Embracing creativity and innovation, we aim to evolve Indigenous traditions, fostering agency and ensuring a thriving future where Indigenous wisdom shapes sustainable living and inspires generations to come. Join them as they perform mihtotillistli (danza).

Starr Chief Eagle 12pm–12:30pm

Starr Chief Eagle will provide an interactive and educational dive into Lakota Culture that will explore the language, art, and knowledge of the Lakota people. During her presentation, she will perform the rare tradition of Hoop Dancing, in which she uses 22 hoops to create several designs, shapes, and creatures to tell a story.

Join us for a wild after-hours adventure at the Field Museum, where we’ll explore the dramatic end of the age of dinosaurs—and the astonishing world that came next. In this exclusive 21+ evening, discover how a colossal asteroid ended the dinosaurs’ reign and helped pave the way for the world we know today.
Get up close with incredible specimens and meet the experts who study them. Interact with Field scientists and put your prehistoric knowledge to the test with hands-on activities. Plus, enjoy rare after-hours access to the After the Age of Dinosaurs exhibition before it closes.
Whether you’re a lifelong dinosaur enthusiast, a curious fossil hunter, or simply looking for a fun night out, Last Call: After the Age of Dinosaurs delivers an evening packed with discovery, interaction, and prehistoric surprises.
Tickets include access to select exhibitions and special programming, snacks, and an open bar of beer, wine and our specialty cocktail.

Enjoy an evening at the museum, with access to the latest special exhibition!
