<p>In this interactive session, educators will meet&nbsp;<strong>Kaylin Melia George</strong>, author of the acclaimed picture book Aloha Everything. Together, we will explore how to use this vibrant story as a springboard for interdisciplinary learning, connecting literacy and hula to Hawaiian ecology and history.</p>
<p>We will also dive into the <strong>Field Museum&rsquo;s AANHPI resources</strong>, demonstrating practical ways to integrate these materials into your classroom to meet the requirements of the <strong>TEAACH Act</strong>. This is a unique opportunity to ask questions and discover engaging, culturally responsive strategies to enhance your curriculum.</p>

Aloha Everything: Bringing Hawaiian Ecology, Culture, and History into the Classroom

<p>Join the Field Museum, in collaboration with the Japanese American Service Committee, at Shared Stories, Shared Future: An Educator Symposium on AANHPI Histories and Belonging. This event celebrates the culmination of a three-year journey exploring Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) histories and stories through education, community partnerships, and museum learning. The event will feature a screening of <em>Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America</em>, a film by JJML Productions, followed by a panel discussion with educators and young advocates who helped champion the TEAACH Act in Illinois. Breakout sessions, cultural activation stations, and cultural performances to follow. Field Museum Connections: AANHPI stories and the TEAACH Act programming is made possible with the generous support of the Cyrus Tang Foundation.</p>

Shared Stories, Shared Future:  An Educator Symposium on AANHPI Histories

<p><span>Supported by a three-year grant from the Cyrus Tang Foundation, the&nbsp;</span><em>Field Museum Connections: AANHPI Stories &amp; the TEAACH Act</em><span>&nbsp;project seeks to address this gap by partnering with local Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities, cultural organizations, and educators to co-create PreK-12 learning experiences and programs that reflect authentic, multifaceted perspectives centering AANHPI communities. We aim to equip Illinois educators to meet the requirements of the TEAACH Act, educate young people, foster greater cultural empathy, and empower community voices in the telling of their own histories.</span></p>
