Museum field research throughout the world is making an impact on the conservation of our global cultural heritage.    The museum's long-term research programs are encouraging the creation of archaeological reserves and cultural heritage parks.  The research and publication efforts of museum staff on sites of global cultural heritage importance are providing governments with the data they need to prioritize site preservation.  Key sites in this effort include Cerro Baul and the Norte Chico in Peru, El Palmillo and Mitla Fortress in Mexico, Mtwapa in Kenya, and the Diros Cave in Greece.
