Projects & Impact

What you see on exhibition at the Field Museum is just the tip of the iceberg.

Thangka Preservation

Thangkas are beautiful and complex pieces of Tibetan Buddhist religious artwork that originated around 600 AD. Field Museum conservators designed storage and treatment processes to prolong the life of these important devotional items.

Project Library

Field Museum staff at every level are creating, innovating, and improving: in scientific research and discovery, collections care and management, exhibition design and visitor engagement, data and technology, and more.
