Sole to Soul: Celebrating 100 Years of Excellence
At our February After 5 event, we kick off Black History Month’s centennial year with an unforgettable, intergenerational celebration rooted in legacy, style, and Chicago soul.
This dynamic event honors the origins of Black History Month and spotlights African Americans whose impact on science, scholarship, and community continues to shape our world—all while paying homage to Chicago’s iconic footwear culture.
Expect a vibrant blend of music, poetry, dance, and shoe fashion, featuring performances that span classic and contemporary Chicago traditions, including house, tap, stepping, and African diasporic dance.
We’ll also uplift the next generation of leaders by celebrating young scholars excelling in academics and community service, culminating in a powerful Legacy Walk that pairs youth with elders—bridging past, present, and future, one step at a time.
Come for the culture. Stay for the legacy. Walk out inspired.
This event is included in admission to the After 5 at the Field event. Tickets can be purchased in person.
