An ornithologist by training, Cameron is a conservation ecologist with the Andes-Amazon Program. His primary work involves leading bird sampling for rapid inventories, lending avian expertise to follow-up efforts from prior inventories, and supporting any ornithological needs that arise within the Chicago Region. Cameron comes to the Field Museum after having spent the last decade focused on the conservation of Amazonian birds, particularly the effects of deforestation and forest fragmentation. This included a year-and-a-half living and working in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. Cameron has been watching and studying birds for 30 years, with stints as a field biologist in Alaska, Hawaii, Borneo, and Antarctica. During his free time, you’ll likely find him exploring Chicago’s world-class green spaces along the lakefront.
