The Midwest Andean Conference was initiated in 1972 as an informal meeting of scholars and students in the Midwest who want to share recent fieldwork and other ongoing research in archaeological, ethnographic, and ethnohistorical investigation in the Andean and Amazonian regions of South America. Each year the conference has been sponsored by different Universities in the Midwest. Since its inception, the Midwest Andean Conference has been a forum to inform and to stimulate the interests of all those involved.
